City Academy Singers Choir is an exciting choir located in the City, who have an exciting varied repertoire from Pop and Rock through to Musical Theatre, Jazz and Soul alongside some more traditional choral work too.
The choir is a mixed group with both men and women welcome, and provides a great way of meeting like-minded singers in a fun and sociable environment.
Membership also provides the opportunity to perform at a number of events throughout the year. This includes the choir’s own dedicated concerts as well as performing as guests at some of City Academy’s other events.
If you’re interested in joining Singers, you must attend a taster session with the choir. During the taster you will attend a regular rehearsal and meet the rest of the group. The MD will also take the opportunity to hear you sing as well as assess your suitability for the group. Following the taster, the Head of Singing will inform you via email if you have been accepted.
Rehearsals
Rehearsals are held on Monday evenings from 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm in Dutch Church, Liverpool Street
In weekly rehearsals, you will develop in the following areas:
- Develop and refine vocal technique and dynamic choral performance
- Explore a variety of song genres and increase your repertoire knowledge
- Improve range, pitch and listening skills
- Learn about the vocal anatomy and build confidence

Who Can Join?
The City Academy Singers is open to singers with any voice type who have at least some previous singing experience. The choir is not suitable for absolute beginners.
If you do not have the experience required, we recommend you complete a Beginners Singing and Improvers Singing course before progressing to the choir.
We are always looking for new members - so if you have a love of performing and are looking to develop your vocal technique, please contact info@city-academy.com for more information.
As a member of the Singers, you don’t have to commit to every rehearsal evening, as we appreciate people have busy lives. However, putting on a choir show takes a lot of hard work, practise at home and commitment in order for it to be a success, so we do ask that you attend as many classes as you can.

Performances
City Academy Singers perform in showcases and larger scale productions each year at prestigious music venues across London. Additional performances for the choir may also include community projects and live music events.
Choir Director
The choir is led by performer, composer and musical director, Eamonn O'Dwyer.
Eamonn trained at the Royal Academy of Music. He played the pivotal role of the Song Man in the National Theatre’s multi-award-winning War Horse in the West End, and has recently returned from a tour of the UK, understudying the role of Tevye in Craig Revel Horwood’s 5-star production of Fiddler on the Roof.
