Write, shoot and direct your own film with our five-day Filmmaking School. Learn the fundamentals of filmmaking and be guided through the whole filmmaking process, from storyboarding to editing.
Looking at industry examples, from indie to blockbuster films, you will get a thorough understanding of different genres and the various skills needed to create a film from scratch. At the end of the course you will have collaborated on writing, directing and editing a film that you will get to take home.

Filmmaking School Schedule
DAY ONE
Our five-day course will kick off with an introduction to the world of film production. Learn about the various roles and responsibilities of the film set; from the Producer, Writer, Director and Cinematographer to the Sound Recordist, Production Designer, Script Supervisor and Editor. In the afternoon you will explore the Cinematographer and Director roles more in-depth.
DAY TWO
Day two will take you into the realm of writing, and as a group you will develop a story idea. You will be looking at the writing process, exploring genre, dramatic conflict, character goals and resolution. During the second half of the day, you will move on to storyboarding, where you will visualise your script and gain further insight into the work of the Director.
DAY THREE
On day three you will do a performance workshop, learning about the Actor's process. You will also try your hand at recording sound before you start shooting your film.
DAY FOUR
You will spend some of the day wrapping up your shoot before moving on the editing stage, using Adobe Premiere.
DAY FIVE
On the final day of the course, you will finish the editing of your film, before enjoying a screening.
Your Film
At the end of our course you will take away a film that you have written, directed and edited.

Membership to the Company will cover you for all classes, rehearsals and all shows from your joining date. The Company rehearses throughout the year, with the following breaks: Easter (one week break), Summer (3-week break) and Christmas.
To make membership fees more manageable, these breaks are accounted for within your monthly instalments across the year. This means there are no breaks in your monthly payments.

All City Academy tutors are experienced professionals from theatre, film/TV and performance industries. So whilst they're training you they may also be rehearsing for a West End show or working on a movie. We like that and we do believe it makes a difference in class.
