Online Acting Classes - Improvers

Our Online Acting Classes - Improvers are designed for students that have completed Online Beginners Acting or another beginner-level acting course.

In this course you will have the chance to develop your acting skills further exploring spontaneity, impulse and play. Throughout the course you will be challenged in an encouraging and supportive environment working closely in a virtual group.

In this virtual workshop you will:

• Prepare and present improvised and scripted scenes
• Develop your confidence, imagination and creativity
• Use environment, character and objectives to explore text
• Be encouraged to use your voice and body in new ways
• Explore rehearsal techniques
• You will receive friendly feedback throughout the course and all scripts are provided.

You will need:

• a device with a camera and microphone
• at least 2 metre squared to move in
• comfortable clothes so you can move freely

OUR APPROACH

The City Academy Acting Department takes what we like to call a ‘rainbow’ approach in that we do not adhere to just one school of thought on technique. You will experience various styles such as Method, Stanislavski and the basics of Meisner. Our acting coaches are all working, professional actors and directors who bring to bear their own expertise, enabling a rounded approach of effective techniques that work for you as an individual.

Our Online Acting Courses equip students with the tools needed to start thinking like an actor. What questions do actors need to ask and how does this exploration bring about a performance? How does it feel to be an actor and tell a story from the character’s perspective? Acting class is about exploring ideas rather than demonstrating talent so there is a strong focus on group work and imagination - essential ingredients for any actor.

A note on participation: Enhancing these skills requires practical and active participation. As this is an interactive, group class all students will be required to have their videos turned on.
