Our Contemporary Dance Classes - Improvers 1 is ideal for those with recent experience in this dance style or those that have completed a Contemporary Beginners course.
In this course you will build on movements and phrases to find greater release and expression. You will develop a greater understanding of the four main contemporary dance techniques: Graham, Cunningham, Limon and Release. Working virtually in a group setting we’ll explore what it means to add nuance and finesse to your performance as you advance your physicality, musicality, stamina and coordination.
You will begin to feel more freedom of movement and a noticeable development in your posture and balance.
In this virtual course you will:
- Explore and understand more advanced contemporary movement and tasks
- Learn exercises to develop your core strength
- Improve coordination and correct body alignment
- Practise more complex combinations of steps and perform more intricate choreographic phrases
As with all of our online dance classes, you will need:
- a device with a camera and microphone
- at least 2 metre squared to move in
- form-fitting clothes so you can move freely
- barefeet or socks-only

No Venue
All City Academy tutors are experienced professionals from theatre, film/TV and performance industries. So whilst they're training you they may also be rehearsing for a West End show or working on a movie. We like that and we do believe it makes a difference in class.
