Online Painting Classes

Discover your inner artist by painting in a fun and supportive virtual environment. Our Online Painting course gives you the opportunity to channel your creativity and enjoy working remotely with fellow students under the guidance of an encouraging and knowledgeable art tutor. 

This course is ideal for anyone with a little to no experience in art but is also a great next step for students who have completed our Online Drawing Course.

You’ll start with a basic run-through of colour theory to help you mix your paints and quickly move on to doing an initial sketch of your subject to start your painting. Throughout the course you’ll explore a variety of techniques to help broaden your knowledge and artistic abilities.

This online class is designed to help you express yourself creatively using world-renowned painting techniques. Working mostly with water soluble acrylic paints you will learn to capture still life objects and find your own creative style. 

In this course you will:

• Discover basic colour theory and colour mixing
• Learn to paint with water soluble acrylics
• Work with still life objects and set-ups from home
• Gain confidence in producing painted artworks
• Like all of our art and drawing classes, receive constructive guidance and feedback

As this is an online painting course you will need:

• A device with a camera and microphone
• Any water mixable paints you have. Acrylics are the most suitable
• A selection of 2 or 3 objects you’d like to paint. Organic objects with texture like fruit, vegetables, shells, mussels, wood work well as do simple vases, mugs or bowls.
• A pencil, sharpener and an eraser
• Sellotape or masking tape (optional)
• Acrylic or oil-based paints
• A4 or A3 paper, canvas or similar
• Baking/greaseproof paper to make a paper of palette or an old plate or paper plates
• Brushes, sponges, rags, tissues (helpful when things get messy!)

A note on participation: Enhancing these skills requires practical and active participation. As this is an interactive, group class all students will be required to have their videos turned on.
