Online Singing Lessons For Beginners

Learn to sing in a supportive and relaxed environment with our practical Online Singing Lessons For Beginners. Ideal for those with little to no singing experience, this virtual course will take you through a step-by-step approach to singing. You’ll learn about effective use of breath, how to release tension and how to connect with your voice so you can enjoy singing with ease.

Each week will begin with a thorough vocal warm before going on to discover key vocal techniques and approaches to develop your confidence and singing skills using a new song for each class. This song will be taught in a group context with microphones OFF but videos ON so that your tutor can help you achieve the correct posture for singing. You will then be encourage to sing a small section so that the tutor can give you tailored, specific advice. Whilst solo singing in this course is entirely optional it is recommended to help you get the most from the class. Your voice will grow in strength and flexibility and you’ll gain a sense of control and confidence when singing. Best of all, you will have a lot of fun and meet like-minded new people.

In this course you will:

• Learn how to make effective use of your breath.
• Develop body awareness through focus on posture and alignment.
• Learn how to warm up your voice in an effective and healthy way.
• Learn how to use different vocal qualities and colours to expand your vocal potential.
• Learn the art of story-telling through song.
• Learn your vocal range.
• Have the opportunity to sing alone in a safe and nurturing environment
• Receive individual tailored feedback and advice
• Explore a wide range of songs from a broad repertoire including Pop, Jazz, Soul and Musical Theatre.

You will typically learn a new song each week during this online singing course. Throughout the course you will receive friendly feedback from your tutor.

As with all of our online singing courses, you will need:

• a device with a camera and microphone
• at least 1.5 square metres to move in with the ability to stand up while still being seen.
• Comfortable clothes so you can move freely
• Ability to see the music you will be sent ahead of the class and a pencil to make notes.

A note on participation: Enhancing these skills requires practical and active participation. As this is an interactive, group class all students will be required to have their videos turned on.
