Online Singing Improvers

Our Online Singing Improvers Lessons are ideal for students that have had some singing experience. In these classes you will hone your skills and widen your repertoire. You’ll continue to develop your vocal tone, use of breath and storytelling as you explore your own personal sound. You will expand on the vocal qualities and colours taught in Beginners Singing in a fun, supportive environment with like-minded students.

During the Improvers course you will be expected to sing on your own so that the tutor can check your progress and provide feedback. If you are not yet at a stage where you are comfortable sharing your voice then why not try one of our Beginners courses instead.

This virtual course covers a range of carefully selected material to ensure it is challenging, varied, and above all, enjoyable.

Course content will include:

• Application of a range of vocal techniques and approaches to further understand the workings of the voice and improve tone.
• A comprehensive warm-up each week with new exercises added throughout the course.
• Application of different vocal qualities and colours to a variety of songs. These may include Speech Quality, Twang, Tilt, Sob and Belt but will depend on the previous experience of the group.
• Opportunities to sing solo pieces throughout the course with individual feedback.
• Exploring a wide range of songs and performing a broad repertoire including Pop, Jazz, Soul and Musical Theatre.
• Final informal sharing within class in which students will have the opportunity to share what they have learnt.

Students will typically learn a new song each week during the course and will receive friendly feedback from your tutor throughout.

Entry level requirements for this course:

• This course is suitable for those who have a basic knowledge of singing technique and the ability to correctly pitch.
• Students must have completed a singing beginners course and/or have previous singing experience and wish to further develop their vocal skills.
• Within this course students will further consolidate vocal technique, breathing exercises, posture and application of this technique across a broad repertoire.
• The ability to hear notes and sing them back as well as good spoken and written english is required.

As with all of our online singing classes, you will need:

• a device with a camera and microphone
• at least 1.5 square metres to move in with the ability to stand up while still being seen.
• Comfortable clothes so you can move freely
• Ability to see the music you will be sent ahead of the class and a pencil to make notes.

A note on participation: Enhancing these skills requires practical and active participation. As this is an interactive, group class all students will be required to have their videos turned on.
