Screen Acting School Intensive - 5 days

Each day will be split into three sessions, focusing on different skills and techniques to help you develop your acting craft:

Day 1: The Medium of TV and Film

Day one you will set the scene with a technical overview of the industry and the various crew roles on TV and Film sets, highlighting the difference between acting for the screen and for the stage. You will also be exploring the fundamentals of screen acting technique. This will include relaxation, concentration and points of attention and how to apply these when you’re in front of the camera.

Day 2: Finding Inner Life

Focusing on the significant relationship between the camera and the eyes, day two looks further at camera interactions and how to use imagination as a key tool for your screen acting craft. You will apply what you learn in front of the camera before ending the session watching it back and receiving friendly feedback.

Day 3: Preparing for a Role

On day three you will get the opportunity to dissect a full length feature film script, working with specific techniques to analyse text and undertake research, to help you build a character effectively. The final section of the day will see you apply this knowledge to breathe physical life into your character in front of the camera.

Day 4: The Audition Room

Taking you into the setting of the audition room, the penultimate day will teach you what to expect and how to prepare effectively. You will learn how to work with casting directors and practice doing a commercial casting. Looking at a variety of audition circumstances, using specific camera techniques, this day will see you develop confidence in the audition room.

Day 5: Bringing it Together

The final day of the course will bring together all the techniques you have learned throughout the week. You will prepare and film a monologue which you can use to send to casting directors/agents and promote yourself online. The week will finish with a discussion about the industry, how to dive into the world of film and what your next steps will be.
