It’s easy to understand why Swing Dance is more popular than ever, offering high-energy techniques and choreography, easy-to-master basic steps, and some of the most iconic jazz sounds of the 1930s and 40s.
In our Swing Dance Classes - Beginners, you will learn the Lindy hop, which developed in New York City in the 1920s and 30s, combining elements of Jazz Dance and Charleston.
You’ll learn the basic step, before mastering more complicated elements and turns as you grow in confidence.
Swing Dance Classes - Beginners Content
During the Swing Dance Beginners course, you will:
- Learn the 6 count basic (lindy) using triple steps
- Add styling and moves like the tuck turn, push turn, and send out
- Develop your coordination and fitness
- Gain the confidence and skills you need to start dancing swing socially
You will receive friendly guidance and feedback from your tutor throughout the swing dance lessons.

No Venue
All City Academy tutors are experienced professionals from theatre, film/TV and performance industries. So whilst they're training you they may also be rehearsing for a West End show or working on a movie. We like that and we do believe it makes a difference in class.
