Abigail Kessel

Abi began her career early with a passion for performing. She was a soloist for the National Youth Ballet Company at Sadlers Wells Theatre, dancing the role of Ophelia that had been created for her. At 15 she was hand-picked to dance with The Bolshoi Ballet in the pas de six for The Sleeping Beauty season at The London Coliseum. At 17 she won the Gold Medal for the Cecchetti Classical Ballet Awards, shortly after, graduating from Central School of Ballet. She toured with Ballet Central, before going on to dance internationally on other iconic stages and in many roles with The Israeli National Ballet Company and The Stadtheatre St. Gallen, Switzerland, then as an apprentice for the renowned South American contemporary company Grupo Corpo in Brazil.

She studied and performed Tango in Argentina and then later for The 50th Cecchetti Ballet Anniversary held at The Royal Opera House.

Abi has performed as a freelance dancer in many contemporary projects in the UK including at The Queen Elizabeth Hall, The Roundhouse Camden, for Resolutions!at The Place, in Sweden, Dublin, Spain and Buenos Aires.

Abi graduated from The Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing and has a varied international career as a teacher, choreographer, movement director and intimacy coordinator, creating work for Opera, Musicals, ARC YDC, Film and Theatre. She is Artistic Director of ARC Dance Academy London, a thriving dance school in South East London. She has been invited to teach master classes and be a guest adjudicator at The Lilian Baylis, Sadler’s Wells Theatre, for the Cecchetti Classical Ballet Awards.

As a teacher Abi inspires, mentors and supports all her students with their unique talent.
