Subjects taught by Lisa:
Playwriting courses

Lisa Carroll has been heavily involved in theatre as a teenager, and trained as an actor on the Foundation course at RADA in London. She then went on to study English at University College Dublin, and started writing for stage whilst studying abroad in California. Here she studied under playwrights Jon Robin Baitz and Erin Cressida Wilson.

She also trained at the Royal Court in London on their young writers programme, and later on an invitation group led by playwright E.V. Crowe. As a playwright, she wrote the staged reading of Sixteen at RADA, the play Snapdragon at Abbey Theatre in Dublin, and the upcoming play Cuckoo at Soho Theatre.

Lisa has plenty of teaching experience, having led workshops for animation company More Than Minutes, and working with Lee Anderson to deliver a workshop for the Arcola Theatre.

As an experienced https://uat.city-academy.com/playwriting teacher, her classes are varied and interesting, with plenty of food for thought on what makes a great play. She likes to create a fun, open space where students can share ideas and know they will be listened to, and where creativity is key.

“I take great pleasure in sharing my own knowledge with people, as well as listening to the fascinating stories and experiences everyone brings to the table themselves. I’m passionate about teaching so that students feel empowered to put pen to paper and share how they see the world.”
